Toddlers & Eating
The other day I sent my daughter a video of a mother that found a creative way to get her toddler to eat. This is not always an easy thing to do. As parents. We all know how stubborn toddlers can be and just getting them to eat can be challenging. We worry about making sure they are eating healthy and not going hungry. Then add on to that wor about when they refuse to eat.
Motherhood. And for all the fathers out there too. Struggling along with this as well. It is not an easy job.
Taking 2 hours to get someone fed was probably not on the schedule for the day. Also, as the time is ticking away, you think of all the other things that you need to get done like the dishes and the laundry. If you are a working mom from home, my heart goes out to you with all these times.
As Time passes, thoughts? Start creeping into your mind. Am I really cut out for this? This isn't what I signed up for! Am I a terrible parent? Because I can't even get my child to eat? Is it just me?
More and more doubts.
Can I tell you a secret? It all happened to me and believe me I shed many tears over many situations like this. When I was a new mom I had no idea on what to do when things like this came up. Not just that. I felt like I was the only one dealing with these kinds of things. Now we have our trusted friends, Google and YouTube to see other people are also dealing with this and can even ask AI for advice. But! Now we have a world filled with so many experts telling us what to do.
Can I tell you another secret? There are no one size fits all solutions. I've raised five kids and each one of them were different from the others. Don't be discouraged though. They have all survived and so have I.
The thing is, we all are unique individuals so our goal is to show. So we'll each of our own children be unique.
So what can you do? As a life coach? A lot of what I deal with is mindset. Finding a mindset that will help you still have joy and peace. Ask yourself what can I learn from this situation? What amazing things am I learning about my child? How will this help me be a better person? Give yourself the gift of a positive mindset! By doing this, you will also give your child the best example of how they can build more positivity in their own lives.
The good news is these situations don't last forever. The bad news is, kids grow up way too fast. Learn from the hard times. Try different ways until you find one that works for you and your child. And as always, working with a life coach helps in finding your own unique path as a parent.
Oh yeah, back to my daughter. She messaged me back after I had sent her the video to thank me. She said it came at the perfect time. Her toddler son was being fussy about eating.
